House Inspection

by @ 11:30 pm. Filed under Misc

Did the initial walkthrough today with the home inspector - it’s in really good shape. Should be for less then two years old. Took some more pictures. Now the fun of getting our place ready to go on the market begins. This is the part I really hate. Seems like something water related always comes up.

Shower in the master bath drips - took the faucet apart today (turn off main water, run pipes dry, take screws out, cut caulk from around base, remove) only to find that HomeDepot didn’t have the seal kits for it. That’s funny - their website shows it. Guess that’s what you get for going to Manassas. Put it back together again so that I could turn the water on - oh look, we now have a bath fountain around the faucet.

Turn water off, drain pipes, reassemble faucet with the external gasket on the outside flange instead of inner one. Turn on - no leaks. But - drip, drip, drip. Now every second instead of every two.

I’d replace the whole damn thing if I thought I could do it without ripping out tile to get to the faucet socket.

*Sigh*

The return of the old

Kids are listening to their parents - Their parents’ music, that is

The complaint about many modern albums is that many only contain one good song and a lot of filler. So kids are turning to classic rock, where the whole album is solid.

His favorite band? Queen. Not late-’90s rock outfit Queens of the Stone Age, not late-’80s metal band Queensryche and certainly not latter-day rap diva Queen Latifah.

Jamie is not alone in his obsession with the sounds of the ’60s and ’70s. Though difficult to quantify, the trend of youngsters craving oldies seems to be gaining momentum. Kids are snatching up Beatles and Led Zeppelin discs, flocking to ZZ Top and Steve Miller concerts, researching the troubled histories of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath and scouring their parents’ record collections for Jimi Hendrix licks and Allman Brothers Band jams.

Last night the most recent step machine began bleeding graphite. I’m impressed - it’s lasted a week. Also, the weld where it hold in a little pully in the center is starting to come apart. I give it one more day tops.

Four will be arriving in September….

by @ 10:03 pm. Filed under Adrienne's Head

Some of you know. Some of you don’t know yet.

But I’m starting to show so I better come out of the closet.

Yes, Q is going to be a big sister in September.

If you are surprised, so were me and the hubbie.

Keeping with the Star Trek theme, we have named this kid Four as in Tertiary Adjunct to Unimatrix Zero One. We are going Borg name since I am being assimulated.

Yes, we will once again find out the gender. We have a potential girl name, but once again no boy names. So Zinger, I might need to run a contest on your site if it’s a boy and we can’t come up with anything.

Was that you Evil Bastard?

Sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning we got a message on our machine from the Arlington Correctional Facility. Don’t know exactly what it said because it was in Spanish except for “Arlington Correctional Facility.”

So I called my brother at home and on his cell to make sure he wasn’t in jail. Couldn’t find him and my parents had not spoken to him since Thursday.

I found him later and it wasn’t him. The only other person I could think of who might call me to bail him out of jail would be Evil Bastard.

Evil Bastard, if it was you, could you please have them leave the recorded message in English next time? Otherwise I won’t know to come get you.

GI Joe PSA overdubs

by @ 11:14 pm. Filed under Humor

Normally I try to avoid mere link posting but this is pretty amusing to those of us who remember the early 80’s GI Joe cartoons and their PSA epilogues.
