There’s a bunch of old and useless accounts on here. Come monday, any account that hasn’t been logged into in 90 days will be deleted.
So, I haven’t actually ridden my bike for at least a month. I’ve been too busy to take it out on a weekend, and between HomeDepot trips and needing to look somewhat presentable at work, I just didn’t have the right alignment of needs and objectives.
Yesterday I thought about taking the bike in, but got distracted by the above items. But the weather was so sweet, I was determined I would ride in today.

President Bush and his administration are compromising our future on each of these counts. By reducing funding for scientific research, they are undermining the foundation of America’s future. By setting unwarranted restrictions on stem cell research, they are impeding medical advances. By employing inappropriate immigration practices, they are turning critical scientific talent away from our shores. And by ignoring scientific consensus on critical issues such as global warming, they are threatening the earth’s future. Unlike previous administrations, Republican and Democratic alike, the Bush administration has ignored unbiased scientific advice in the policy-making that is so important to our collective welfare.

Another one of the few things standing between me and XM radio goes away.
———
Washington, DC –Attempting to carve out a new programming niche, DC-based XM Satellite Radio, a provider of satellite radio services with more than
2.1 million subscribers, said on Thursday that it plans to launch a new pubic radio channel and has hired longtime NPR morning stalwart Bob Edwards as its star attraction. Edwards hosted National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” for 25 years, attracting more than 13 million listeners weekly, before being dropped as host of the show earlier this year. In 1999, he and the show received a prestigious Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting. XM said that Edwards will host a morning program featuring interviews with newsmakers, journalists, entertainers and other compelling people. Mark Schramm, the former senior producer of “Morning Edition,” will serve as the show’s executive producer. XM is working with partners American Public Media, WBUR and Public Radio International on the new channel. The new channel is scheduled to debut on September 1.

A work of fiction. A Semantic Web scenario. A short feature from a business magazine published in 2009
It’s hard to believe Google - which is now the world’s largest single online marketplace - came on the scene only a little more than 8 years ago, back in the days when Amazon and Ebay reigned supreme. So how did Google become the world’s single largest marketplace?
Well, the short answer is “the Semantic Web” (whatever that is - more in a moment). While Amazon and Ebay continue to have average quarterly profits of $1 billion and $1.8 billion, respectively, and are successes by any measure, the $17 billion per annum Google Marketplace is clearly the most impressive success story of what used to be called, pre-crash, “The New Economy.”

I’m not being entirely facetious here. The conservative “movement” in the U.S. is still firmly behind president George W. Bush’s re-election. He uses conservative rhetoric - taking the war to the enemy, upholding conservative social values, respecting religious faith, protecting the family, and so on. He is widely regarded as one of the most conservative presidents in recent history - rivaling Reagan, eclipsing his own father in right wing bona fides. And yet if you decouple the notion of being a conservative from being a Republican, no one can doubt that the Bush administration has been pursuing some highly unconservative policies.
It was in a bar in midtown Manhattan and the Frenchman and the American were talking about love over some dry Martinis. “Deed you know, sir,” the Frenchman said, “that een my country thair are 79 different ways how to make the REAL, passionate luff?”
“Do tell?” said the American. “Well, that’s amazing. In this
country there’s only one.”
“Just one?” the Frenchman said, condescendingly. “And what eez that?”
“Well, there’s a man and a woman, and –”
“Sacre bleu!!” exclaimed the Frenchman. “Numbair 80!”
If your business involved buying seized grow lights from the police and selling them on ebay? I’m gonna give it a shot - no laws will be broken and the profit margin seems quite worth it.
When I was 17, I ran away and joined the carnival. Sorta. It wasn’t a carnival and I didn’t run away, but it sure sounds good…
