How to remove Outlook 2003 corrupt rules

So, I’m always trying out (breaking) stuff. Among my list of victims was Outlook as I moved to Office 2007 and back again.

After going back to Office2003, all my rules were broken. Rather then try to fix them, I just deleted them. Then when I tried to make new ones, I got an error message that the server couldn’t be updated and the rules were incorrect. Yet they were still listed under rules, and I couldn’t delete or change them. Any additional rules did exactly the same thing.

I tried searching for support on Microsoft’s site, and found this link which introduced me to the MfcMapi.exe tool. So, problem was that I did what they suggested and still had the same problem. So, I did some more looking and found this which still didn’t fix the problem for me. Finally, I decided to try deleting the IPM.Rule.Organizer object, and all’s better now.
